ResMe is a string extraction utility that automatically removes hard-coded strings from your Visual Basic source code, replaces them with a LoadResString() reference, and places the extracted string in a .RES resource file. ResMe makes the first step of localization extremely simple and is superior to old-fashioned ways. Many days of tedious, error prone work can be reduced to a few minutes of automated processing! While ResMe performs about 98% of the work for you, it is necessary to inspect which strings are and aren't being moved to the Resource file.

Your Visual Basic project is copied into a sub directory called \New1 and a copy of your source code is modified to utilize resource strings. Strings that don't belong in the resource file are automatically ignored and you have the ability to control the criteria for disqualifying strings. It is also possible to correct spelling errors by editing strings or combining similar strings. The context of each string's usage is shown by displaying the actual lines of source code that use the string. An optional resource ID reference label can be created and a .BAS file containing the ID constants is added to your project. Lastly, the strings that were hard-coded are compiled into a .RES resource file and this is added into your Visual Basic project.
